How to humanize your web presence – 3 tips for not appearing cold, sterile, and detached

The ecommerce marketing management position has now evolved into one in which the sales staff and the need for having human interaction has all but been removed. The purity of the sales process has evolved in such a unique manner that it is possible for someone to completely purchase your products and never speak, text, email, or have anything to do with your organization.

In understanding this evolution of the sales process, these three areas need to be taken into account when building your SEO and SEM methodologies.

1. Create perceived human interaction into your marketing and advertising campaign. The use of the human form and especially the human face should be used on your website. This has the effect of speaking to the customer that we are like you and you are actually dealing with real people. We can trust each other!

2. Color palette selection is very important. Do your research and choose colors that represent the emotional state you want the customer to feel. This sound extremely simple but it takes a lot of work to make this decision and the hardest part is that retail industry color patterns change every year. Do your homework and document your palette in HEXDEC number format.

3. Use the word WE, and US not I or ME. This is simple in thought but it can be very difficult to create content and web design verbiage using these words. And not using the words I or ME is not the same as using WE an US.
